Scuba Charters
Scuba Charters are recommended for
both novice and experienced divers not familiar with local dive
areas. Divers can get free maps, and local dive tips at
Nautilus Dive Center store in downtown Hilo. Join us for an exhilarating dive on the unspoiled reefs of East Hawaii.
Come in and choose a custom dive plan that fits your interests and schedule.
For Certified divers, our fee is $85.00, and includes 2 tanks, weight belt and the personalized attention of our instructors. For Introductory divers, the fee is $85.00. One tank, all gear, and instruction is included.
We offer a discount for
groups of 4 or more divers!
Local Dive Sites
Near Hilo
Leleiwi
- 5mi east of downtown. Hilo's best shore dive site.
Experience turtles, dolphins, fish & whales in season.
Depths 10ft to 70ft. Six lava arches, large coral heads & a
good variety of hard corals. Caution on north swell & rip.
Puhi Bay
- 3mi East of downtown. Good alternate if Leleiwi is closed out.
Turtles, fish & whales. Depths10ft to 60ft. Small lava
tubes, caves & walls. Variety of hard corals. Caution North
swell & during periods of heavy rain.
Richardson Beach
- 5.2 mi East of downtown. Good snorkeling spot. Great for scuba
tune ups & boogie boarding. County park has all
facilities & life guard. Turtles, fish, coral &
whales. Depth 20ft max inside fringing rocks,140ft plus outside.
Caution North swell and extreme depth & current outside
rocks.

PRESS RELEASE
Due to a catastrophic event at the site the HOT LAVA DIVES are presently
on hold!
Recently a bench collapse occurred sending over 20 acres of lava
off the edge of the flow into the ocean. Fortunately no-one was injured.
We will update when conditions stabilize. Nautilus Dive Center offers many
other exciting activities, such as lava-tubes and arches, shipwrecks and
Turtle City. Imagine seeing over 20 large, green sea-turtles on one dive!
