Location: 5 miles East of downtown Hilo. Hilo’s best shore dive site. You may experience seeing turtles, dolphins, fish & whales in season. Depths 10 ft to 70 ft. There are six lava arches, large coral heads & a good variety of hard corals. Caution on north swell & rip.
Location: 3 miles East of downtown Hilo. Easy shore entry for the novice divers. Turtles, fish & whales in season. Depths is about 10 ft to 60 ft. Small lava tube, caves & walls. This place has variety of hard corals. Caution North swell & during periods of heavy rain. Note: You need to get a special permit from Department of Hawaiian Home Lands office for access to Puhi Bay.
Location: 5.2 miles east of downtown Hilo. Good snorkeling spot. Great for scuba tune ups & boogie boarding. County Park has all facilities & life guard. You may see turtles, fish, coral & whales in season. Depth 20 ft max inside fringing rocks and depth 140 ft plus outside. Caution north swell and extreme depth & current outside of rocks. This area is for advanced and experienced divers only.
Location: 28.2 miles east of Downtown Hilo. Best shore dive in Ease Hawaii. Incredible variety of animals & terrain. Depth is about 20 ft to 100 ft. Caution high waves, current, boats & surfers. Note: Since Kilauea Volcano activity, we are not diving this area.
